The Community Marketing Board will meet with a representative from the Sundance Film Festival this morning. Sundance is moving from Utah to Boulder, and Golden wants to be one of the places that festival-goers stay.

They are working on a strategic plan and intend to do a board retreat on May 12th. Those are generally off-site, with no recording equipment.

They will review their 2026 budget, which totals $702,498. Of that, the biggest items are:

  • Media Buying and Advertising $314,000
  • Benefits and salaries $165,123
  • Creative and Public Relations/Strategy & Acct Management $72,500

The full budget appears on p. 2 of the meeting packet.

The Goldens in Golden event cost about $70,000 to put on. The merchants were generally very happy with the results—a huge crowd of customers at a normally dormant time of the year.

The packet includes an interesting report on Golden's visitors—how many, where they come from, their demographics, how much they spend, and what they do while they're here. See pp. 4-31 of the meeting packet.

They will review the winter ad campaign. If you see or hear commercials about Golden, this is the group who creates and distributes them. See pp. 32-37 of the meeting packet.
