The Celebration of Life for former Golden Mayor Marjorie Sloan will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Golden Community Center (1470 10th St.). A formal program will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m., and attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
The City anticipates a large crowd and is actively working to accommodate all guests and community members comfortably. For those unable to attend in person, you are invited to join the program using the YouTube livestream link beginning at 9:30 a.m. with formal programming at 10:00 a.m.
Parking
If you're planning to attend, please consider your travel and parking options ahead of time. Public transportation is encouraged, including the Ore Cart shuttle. Event parking will be available west of Maple Street on 10th Street, including the Golden Community Center lots, Planning building lots, and the Kayak Drop-Off lot. These areas will be reserved for event attendees from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Accessible parking will remain open to the general public in the Kayak lot, but all other access will be restricted during that time.
The upper parking lot on 8th Street will have spaces reserved for family and event vendors. The remaining spaces in that lot will be used for accessible parking, and a drop-off area will be designated for easier entry into the building there as well.
Please note that the Community Center will open to the public at 1:00 p.m. that day. Splash will open early at 7:00 a.m. for lap swim.
