Miners Haus Presentation
GURA will hear from the Elevation Land Trust, which hopes to build affordable housing at 17200 West Colfax Avenue (map). This will be 44 for-sale units. The presentation was not available for study ahead of time, but may be posted on the site today.
Nazarene Plan Area
GURA hopes to create a new Urban Redevelopment area on the Nazarene Church property (map), with the goal of building approximately 47 affordable housing units there. In order to make the land eligible for urban renewal, they must conduct a study that will declare the area "blighted." Once blight is determined, GURA will be able to provide Tax Increment Financing (TIF), which will help finance the development. Tonight, they will hear from the consultant who will conduct the blight study. Two neighborhood residents contacted GURA last month to express concerns about increased traffic and whether adequate parking would be provided. The Planning Director pointed out that affordable housing is not required to provide as much parking as market rate housing would be.
There will be a neighborhood meeting at the church on November 6th.
