5:30PM Planning Commission Meeting @ City Hall

The Planning Commission will form a special committee consisting of representatives from the Planning and Sustainability boards to review changes in the sustainability menus. They will then accept public comment.

Tonight's Study Session will include another pass at the proposed update to the Comprehensive Plan. This has been a difficult and obscure process.

Over the past 15 years, the Comprehensive Plan has been fragmented into a series of related/standalone documents: Housing Plan, Transportation Plan, Sustainability Plan, Parks Plan, Open Space Plan, Neighborhood Plans, Transportation Demand Management Plan, etc.

The plans are interdependent, but some are not completed, and some are out of the Planning Commission's sphere of influence. Even as they try to work through this latest version of the Comp Plan (which includes several pages of pseudo-Latin), they are also being asked to review proposed changes to the zoning code which are apparently designed to increase density in our neighborhoods.

Staff is periodically soliciting public comment, but even the Planning Commission is looking a bit baffled by what they're being asked to approve.
