5:30PM Planning Commission Meeting @ City Hall

The Planning Commission will consider moving the sustainability standards to a different section of the municipal code. They are also adding "resilient landscaping standards."

They will then take another walkthrough of the draft Comprehensive Plan. The Commission last discussed this at during the September meeting. They were finding it a bit boggling, because it was so different from previous versions of the Comp Plan. This new one focuses almost entirely on housing--in particular, affordable housing (and how to get more of it). This Plan cites the 2022 Housing Needs Assessment, which set a goal of 3,100 new housing units by 2032– most of it "affordable." This, in turn, will affect the streets--both because we'll have more people and because affordable housing is allowed to provide with less parking.

The Plan is a massive undertaking, and many of the sections are still "to-be-provided later," but the Planning Commission will keep plugging away at it. Staff hopes to post another version for public comment later this month.
