The Economic Development Manager is no longer with the City. They are advertising for a new one. Tonight's meeting will be conducted by that group's second-in-command, the Economic Development Specialist.

This was EDComm's first year of offering grants to Golden businesses. They had $20,000 allocated for that purpose. They fully funded grant requests from Cast Iron Tavern, Virtuosity Dance Centre, and Cannonball Creek Brewery, and partially funded requests from the Golden Wellbeing Collective, the Golden Outpost, 360 Engineering, New Terrain Brewing Co., Deep Roots Winery, and Verts Neighborhood Dispensary with the remaining funds of the grant program. Tonight, they will discuss the program and consider several suggestions by staff for changes to next year's grant cycle.

EDComm has a $79,000 budget.

  • $20,000 went to the small business grants.
  • $20,940 goes to the Golden B2B website and a customer relationship management system (BluDot) for use by staff.
  • $24,810 is available in reserves/unprogrammed.
  • The full budget appears on p. 7 of the meeting packet.

EDComm funded four memberships to the Clear Creek Makerspace in Wheat Ridge. They invited people to send emails if they were interested, and selected four people at random as the winners.

Staff will update the group on their business attraction and retention activities.

They will review the Sales, Use, Marijuana, and Lodging Tax report for June and year to date.
