We Are Still Here: The Endurance of Native Jewels

Indigenous women have persevered through hundreds of years of oppression and numerous attempts to destroy their culture. Explore modern Native fashions that utilize ancient Indigenous jewels and learn about prominent Native women in contemporary American society.
Discovery Awaits: Indigenous Connections, Epic Events, Glimpses of Golden, Legendary People, and the Touch Gallery.
Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe): The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.
The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

MEN’S EXHIBIT 2026 is RMQM’s 18th exhibit of quilts made by men since its opening in 1990. This biennial tradition lives on as visitors love seeing quilts made by men!

Conversations - A Solo Exhibit by Carol Ann Waugh
(through April 18, 2026)
Carol embarked on this series of quilts to document her life by looking at important events that took place during significant years in her life. Starting with 1948 and ending in 2014 each piece takes the viewer on a visual journey through the past, touching on inventions, science, famous and infamous people, women’s achievements, and popular culture. When people view these pieces up close, they can turn to the people next to them and it starts up a conversation.

Participants will be guided through choosing a subject, simplifying what we see, and building an interesting composition using drawing and watercolor, as we capture both cherished and unique outdoor locations in Golden.
Each of the sessions will build upon each other as we focus on: learning what art materials are really necessary, basic drawing techniques, capturing a quick expression of the scene, basic compositional ideas, painting techniques, and so much more.
This class meets twice on April 8 and 15.

Golden Walks is an informal group that walks along the Peaks to Plains trail adjacent to Clear Creek. People walk the distance they want and at their own pace, with the focus on connecting to others and the outdoors. This event occurs weather permitting and may be canceled for inclement weather, especially if the ground is icy. Meet at the Gateway Trailhead located on highway 6 just west of the intersection with highway 93 (near highway 58).
Fit and Energize Exercise Class

Where: First United Methodist Church, 1500 Ford Street, Golden, CO
Join the new free, Fit and Energize exercise class for older adults held at First United Methodist Church on Mondays and Wednesdays. This one-hour class taught by Elizabeth Handing, a certified Silver Sneaker instructor, will address both fitness and balance appropriate for those who are 55+.
Come in the aqua door closest to 15th street and walk down the ramp to the room in which the class is held. The class is open to men and women.

Embroidery Doodle Stitching

Embroidery is often seen as an art form in its own right; however, throughout history, it has frequently been combined with other art forms, such as patchwork, to create embellishments. Other enjoyable applications include decorating clothes, jeans, purses, and jackets, or personalizing special gifts. This class is designed to initiate you into a fun project while teaching the basics and helping you discover the joy of doodling with embroidery as you practice and perfect your newly learned stitches.

SPARK! at Foothills Art Center is a free program designed to make art accessible for people experiencing mild memory loss, early-stage Alzheimer’s, or a related dementia, and their family, friends, and guests. Participants will enjoy an insightful tour and conversation followed by an art activity inspired by the featured artworks. All materials will be provided. Writing a memoir may be the most challenging and consequential writing we will ever do. We think we know ourselves well enough to write about our lives, but the effort seems daunting, and its value dubious. After all, how do we begin to choose which stories to tell from all the days and years? And who cares? First of all, no life is ordinary. No life is without miracles and magic, great loss and great love. And probably no life is more crucial for our children to understand then ours, because they share more than our genetics, they share our spiritual DNA. What made us who we are, helps them see who they can become. In that sense, we leave them with more than stories. We leave them with meaning and hope.
