Each Friday, join us for an hour of exploring a different aspect of Colorado’s railroad history. Each tour covers a specific theme and on these dates our focus will be: Locomotives!
Tours are subject to change and are based on guide availability. Each week’s theme is explored using a variety of museum resources to help bring the subject to life with the understanding that guests are welcome to continue their visit on their own after the tour.

Clear Creek Room: The Heart of Golden
Surrounded by North and South Table Mountains, Clear Creek has drawn people to this area for millennia.
Discovery Awaits: Indigenous Connections, Epic Events, Glimpses of Golden, Legendary People, and the Touch Gallery.
Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe): The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.
The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Medallion Quilts by Cindy Vermillion Hamilton

Cindy is a self-taught folk artist bringing new life to traditional quilt design using unique arrangements of color and pattern. Her specialties are hand-pieced and hand-quilted medallion, sunflower and sunburst designs.

Join Chris Crook to peek under the hood (gently) to see how these word-predicting tools 'think', show some common products for text, voice, photos, and video, and learn how to steer them for everyday tasks like writing notes, summarizing mail, and sprucing up pictures. We’ll also cover the sneaky side—how scammers misuse AI—and share easy, practical tips to keep you safe.
Back by popular demand! If you’ve heard about AI and wondered what it actually does for someone in their daily life, this workshop is for you. Golden Resident Chris Crook uses AI daily in his professional life to simplify complex tasks. Did you know that the first American spies played a part in the American Revolution? Come learn what it was like to be a spy back in the day. At our Academy, your memory will be tested, your skills for reading hidden messages will be developed and your understanding of teamwork will be tried. This hands-on experience with disguises, invisible inks, ciphers and so much more will really bring history alive.

Movies & Music in the Park

Music: Atomic Jones Band
Movie: Balto
The series features free music and a family-friendly movie. Bands begin performing at 7:00 p.m., and the featured movie of the night begins at dusk, around 8:30 p.m. The movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen under the stars.
