Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe): The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

NEW EXHIBIT: The Martin Zinn Quartz Collection
(through August 2027)
Come see over 150 glittering specimens of quartz in every shape and size imaginable, spanning localities from across the globe!
The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.
The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Anne Olsen Quilts from RMQM's Permanent Collection

RMQM presents a series of quilts by Anne Olsen. Anne methodically rescued orphan quilt blocks, dissembled and then reworked them to refine the color scheme or improve the piecing accuracy, often salvaging fabric from other old blocks to complete a set.

20 Perspectives | Conversing with the Earth

20 Perspectives began several years ago during COVID when many of the group were looking to make new connections. Ultimately, the members who joined together come from nine countries and four continents. The group meets twice monthly via Zoom to discuss their work and decide upon themes that lead to three quilt collections a year.

Golden Walks is an informal group that walks along the Peaks to Plains trail adjacent to Clear Creek. People walk the distance they want and at their own pace, with the focus on connecting to others and the outdoors. This event occurs weather permitting and may be canceled for inclement weather, especially if the ground is icy. Meet at the Gateway Trailhead located on highway 6 just west of the intersection with highway 93 (near highway 58).
Fit and Energize Exercise Class

Where: First United Methodist Church, 1500 Ford Street, Golden, CO
Join the new free, Fit and Energize exercise class for older adults held at First United Methodist Church on Mondays and Wednesdays. This one-hour class taught by Elizabeth Handing, a certified Silver Sneaker instructor, will address both fitness and balance appropriate for those who are 55+.
Come in the aqua door closest to 15th street and walk down the ramp to the room in which the class is held. The class is open to men and women.

Bent Bento Quilt Class

The Bent Bento Quilt Pattern by Material Girlfriends is quick, easy, and ideal as a second quilt after the Log Cabin project from the Beginning Quilting class. The lap-size version measures 51" x 68", and kits are available at the shop. Simple construction techniques help the quilt come together quickly. In the first class, students will cut fabric and learn block construction; in the second class, they will work on layout and complete the quilt top.
This class meets twice on September 9 and 23.

Baby Goat Night

Guided Goat Hikes will be here with about a dozen miniature goats of various age and size! The babies will be in a fenced in area where small groups of people are let in for an intimate time with them, while the small, Nigerian Dwarf adult goats will be walking around the beer garden. You'll be able to hang out with these goats while recharging your positive energy in our beautiful outdoor beer garden, all with a drink in hand. We will also have multiple food trucks (see the food truck calendar on our website) and will have multiple bars open so you can get a drink quickly.

Writing a memoir may be the most challenging and consequential writing we will ever do. We think we know ourselves well enough to write about our lives, but the effort seems daunting, and its value dubious. After all, how do we begin to choose which stories to tell from all the days and years? And who cares? First of all, no life is ordinary. No life is without miracles and magic, great loss and great love. And probably no life is more crucial for our children to understand then ours, because they share more than our genetics, they share our spiritual DNA. What made us who we are, helps them see who they can become. In that sense, we leave them with more than stories. We leave them with meaning and hope.

The Early People of Where the Mountains Meet the Plains

The legacy of the early people who lived along the Front Range of Colorado is a story of both tradition and change. For over 12,000 years, dispersed bands of people occupied the region, inhabiting favorable places and moving across the landscape as the seasons changed. It is a tale of adaptation to local environments and response to extended climatic fluctuations. Their history is understood through the study of stone tools, ceramics, remnants of an evening meal, and the oral traditions of their descendants. The remains help with the reconstruction of their cultural practices and technological innovation, reflecting resourceful people and the dramatic effect when outside influences filter into the region – sometimes blending and sometimes colliding. But most important, they help us to learn about the lives of these early people.
This presentation will explore our knowledge of these early people as seen through the eyes of an archaeologist. It will explore our current understanding of the past and how our archaeological interpretation and methods have changed to better understand these past lives.
