This cartoon appeared in the October 17, 1929 Colorado Transcript. It was one of a series called "Gas Gasps" than ran from mid-January through mid-December of that year.
The first in the group announced "A series of talks under the heading Gas Gasps by Mr. Otto Mobile. Otto knows his motor products from A to Z and you can rely explicitly on what he tells you. Otto will show you how to motor more confidently and more economically. Read Gas Gasps for pleasure and profit regularly in this space."
The series was sponsored by Hering's Garage. The phone number was 98, but as was typical of ads in that era, they didn't provide an address. The town was small enough that they assumed you would know where every business was located.

George Hering arrived in Golden in 1915 and stayed until his retirement in 1935. A gifted mechanic, he ran shops in several different downtown locations, including 12th Street near Jackson, Washington Avenue (now Woody's Pizza) and Jackson & 13th.
