NOW OPEN - CCR Trailhead

This newest segment of trail opened to the public in November 2025 and includes:

  • The CCR Trailhead provides parking for 42 cars and takes its name from the Colorado Central Railroad that was built in the 1870s to transport ore from the mines in Blackhawk to the smelters in Golden.
  • Another 1.5 miles of fully ADA Accessible trail that connects to the Gateway Segment.
  • Five new bridges – Diversion Point, Granite Giants, 691, CCR, and Perseverance.
  • JCPOS’ first trail on a viaduct structure. This design allows for surgical construction while providing visitors the experience they’ve grown accustomed to.
  • Multiple creek access points, including the usable access point at the CCR Trailhead.
