The Library has two cooking events today. Registration is full, but you can get on the waitlist. In addition, they're hosting the Gingerbread Contest Awards Ceremony—a make-up from last Friday, when the power was out.

Kids, don't forget the big free show put on by the Golden Merchants for your Christmas treat.... You must have a ticket to get in so have your mothers take you to one of the stores listed below or when they are out shopping, have them ask one of the following business people if they have any tickets left for the big Christmas show.
A Gene Autry film and five cartoons will be shown.
Colorado Transcript - December 22, 1955
This free kids' show was a tradition for many years. In addition to the movies, the merchants usually supplied popcorn and candy.

In 1940, all 635 children who were enrolled in Golden schools were invited, and most of them accepted: the December 26th edition of the Transcript reported that more than 600 boys and girls were present. Despite the crowding, the paper reported that a good time was had by all.
