8AM-1PM Golden Farmers Market @ Corner of 10th and Illinois Streets

The Golden Farmers Market (GFM) is produced and managed by the Golden Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization in Golden, Colorado. A long-standing tradition in the Golden community, we strive to contribute to the success of local food growers and producers, as well as other businesses, and create vibrant community gatherings. The revenue generated from vendor sales commission helps to cover market operating expenses and directly benefits small businesses and the economic development of the Golden Community.

The market is located at the corner of 10th and Illinois Streets. We appreciate your support of the Golden Farmers Market and Colorado agriculture!

You’ve heard the saying a “A picture is worth 1000 words”. We are flipping it around and creating a “picture” with 1000 words. This workshop will combine visual imagery with written words to create a unique artistic expression. We will be using a variety of resources including books, magazines, personal handwriting and hand painted pages, alongside images or other visual elements to arrange pieces made primarily focusing on the written word. We will continue to use various techniques of layering different types of paper material. Everything is provided; all you need is your creative vision. Register

Due to the weather forecast, this month’s Movies and Music in the Park has been postponed.

With the amount of setup and cost involved in bringing this event to life, we had to make the call early to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. We don’t take this decision lightly—we love Movies and Music just as much as you do, but want to try to ensure it's under the stars and not the rain!

Golden History: New Floor for the Chevy Dealer

Ashton Chevrolet located at 12th and Washington - Golden History Museum collection

The July 12, 1934 Colorado Transcript announced that Ashton Chevrolet had installed a new cement floor in its service area. This was the first of several planned upgrades to the business.

Modern care dealerships tend to be huge buildings, often located on the outskirts of communities, so it's hard to imagine that building serving as Golden's Chevy dealer. Nevertheless, Aston offered sales in the front part of the building and service in the rear from 1930 to 1936.

At that time, they built a new dealership on the northwest corner of 13th and Ford. The new building gave them more space for showroom and service bays. They were also able to install gas pumps.

The building at 12th and Washington has served many purposes over the years, including bank, dry goods store, grocery store, restaurant, clothing shop, drugstore, bookstore, and now (and for several years) Goozell Coffee and Frozen Yogurt.
