    Golden History: Golden Breweries

Cannonball Creek Brewing is celebrating their 12th anniversary this weekend. While it may seem as if Golden has always been awash with craft breweries, that's not the case. Coors (never a craft brewery–always intent on large-scale production) was established in 1873. After that, we waited 120 years for Golden City Brewery, which opened in 1993.

It took another 20 years for the tidal wave of breweries to begin:

    2013 Cannonball Creek Brewing
    2013 Mountain Toad Brewing
    2013 Barrels & Bottles
    2016 Holidaily
    2016 New Terrain Brewing
    2018 Coda Brewing
    2019 Over Yonder Brewing

Eagle Brewing Company as shown in the 1893 Golden Globe Industrial Edition This was located at 11th and Washington–now the site of the Golden Hotel.

The historic Colorado Transcripts and Golden Globes inform us that there was an earlier “Golden City Brewery” in the 1860s and the “Eagle Brewing Company” in the 1890s.
