The Emperor's New Clothes - MAPAC Children's Theater

The Emperor loves his clothes! In fact, he cares more about his clothes than his people, and that’s not right! Along come a pair of swindlers ready to take advantage of the gullible Emperor and his two town officials, and the story begins.

Come help the Emperor learn appearances are not everything and honesty is the best policy.

Center for Railroad Photography & Art Winners

Every year, the Center for Railroad Photography & Art holds a contest that attracts some of today’s finest and most creative photographers. Those who placed in this year’s program will have their photographs displayed at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden into 2023. The Museum’s goal is to showcase not only Colorado’s rich railroad history, but also the many creative people—around the world—who keep the spirit of railroading alive and well in the 21st century.

Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe):  The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.

The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Thorns & Spikes | The 4 Common Corners

(through July 20, 2024)
It is amazing to see what comes from a creative group of people challenging each other to create original quilts for a theme. They take 4 months to develop and create their work for each theme. This exhibit is the result of the THEME challenge "Thorns and Spikes" for a group who all live in the Common 4 Corner states, and the only rule is that their work represents these states.

Full Walking Tour @ Dinosaur Ridge

Where: Dinosaur Ridge, 16831 West Alameda Parkway, Morrison, CO

The Full Walking Tour is a guided tour of the East and West sides of Dinosaur Ridge. A volunteer guide will interpret the dinosaur tracks and bone fossils, local history, and geology during the one-way, 1.5-mile tour on a paved trail will take 1.5-2 hours. All walkers require a ticket to be transported via a shuttle bus to their starting point. This tour is designed for participants ages 10 and older. 
Tour Specifics:

  • $18 per person (All walkers require a ticket to be transported via a shuttle bus to their starting point)
  • 1.5-2 hours
  • Admission to the Exhibit Hall is included with each ticket
  • Masks are required on the shuttle bus (ages 3+).
  • Tour may be called off for active precipitation, temps below 32 degrees, or lack of registrations.
  • Appropriate attire: comfortable shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, removable clothing (windbreakers, fleeces, etc…)
  • Bring water
  • Minimum of 2 and maximum of 13 participants

Golden Concert Choir Spring Concert - Ode to Life

When: 4-4:30PM
Where: Calvary Episcopal Church, 1320 Arapahoe Street, Golden, CO

The Golden Concert Choir will present its spring concert, Ode to Life in the Great Hall of the historic and beautiful Calvary Episcopal Church of Golden (please use the 14th Street entrance). The program features the giants of classical music: Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Berlioz, and a less well-known woman composer of the early 20th century, Lili Boulanger. The program begins with Berlioz’s very dramatic rejection of the horrors of death and progresses through a series of pieces which resolve into a recognition of the joy of life represented by the choral music of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy

The doors will open at 3:00 p.m. to allow time for a fundraising silent auction and sale which will precede and follow the concert. 

Tickets will be available at the door: $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students, no charge for children under 6. Come enjoy the music with us, and shop for Mother's Day gifts and local summer activities to benefit the choir.

2024 is the start of the Golden Super Cruise’s 20th official anniversary season. There will no longer be entertainment, official vendors, an information line or email contact. The Cruise has always been yours and you know the drill. If you’ve been a participant or spectator, come out as usual. If you’re new to the Cruise, start at South Golden Road and jump in. It’s easy and the people are great. Support the City of Golden and Golden businesses because they’ve always been our gracious hosts. Thank you very sincerely for the perfect job of picking up and packing out trash. Point of important courtesy: Drive straight through all roundabouts, but ESPECIALLY at South Golden Road and Ulysses at the top of the hill. Tell others and use it as a cooldown and space it out to come back around through the Quaker roundabout.
