Tonight's Topics:

The DDA will discuss several city projects that they plan to help finance.

  • Extending the string lighting in Miners Alley. They've been discussing this for several years, but it's a complicated project and in the meantime the price has increased.
  • Paving Prospectors Alley between 14th and 15th. They've been discussing this since at least 2016. The City is requesting a $70K contribution from DDA.
  • The city plans to replace the pavers in the downtown area, which will cost $154K. Staff is recommending that DDA contribute 1/3 to 1/2 of that cost.
  • Those, with various other downtown projects will total about $690K this year.
Golden First Friday in 2011

The Community Marketing/Visit Golden team is recommending some promotions designed to bring locals downtown. They're calling it "Golden Hours." They're asking the DDA to provide micro-grants to businesses who want to offer attractions. They estimate that the grants may total about $10,000. Visit Golden likens this to First Friday programs in other communities. It "would reflect Golden's unique character by emphasizing local businesses, authentic experiences, community gathering, and a vibrant small-town atmosphere."

A subcommittee has been considering converting the parking lot between the Astor House and Miners Alley Playhouse into a "Cultural Plaza" and/or common consumption place (tables & chairs for the public to use). They are considering organizing a "pop-up" event to help the public envision other alternatives for the now-parking lot.

Staff has ordered replacement parts for the downtown dining enclosures at a cost of $6632.

The residents of Millstone Condominiums along Clear Creek continue to express their concerns about the plan to widen the creek path next to their condos to accommodate more traffic.
