A subcommittee of the Planning Commission has been working with representatives from the Sustainability Board to develop new energy building codes. The Commission will review the proposed changes tonight and recommend them to City Council.
They will then adjourn to a study session to review proposed changes to three planning documents.
Comprehensive Plan
Staff proposes changing the Comprehensive Plan to facilitate more affordable housing. They commissioned a housing report in 2022. That report concluded that Golden needed 3,100 new homes over the next 5-10 years. The revised Comp Plan will explore ways to preserve existing affordable housing, prevent evictions, support seniors aging in the place, and support new affordable housing projects.
They plan a series of public meetings over the summer and hope to adept the new Comp Plan by mid-August.
