- an upcoming tour of the Labriola Innovation Lab
- a survey conducted by the Chamber of Commerce to determine the economic losses associated with the December Public Service Power Shutdown
Public Service Power Shutdown Recovery:
- The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), which serves downtown businesses (and, to a lesser degree, residents) is offering grants ranging from $125 to $3500 to compensate for lost revenue during the Public Safety Power Shutdown. Apply here for a grant.
- The Golden Urban Renewal Authority (GURA), which serves businesses in the Urban Renewal Areas, may offer $1000 grants, regardless of the loss or the size of the business. The board was unable to approve this, since their Monday night meeting was cancelled for lack of a quorum.
- The Economic Development Commission (EDComm), which serves businesses not covered by the DDA or GURA, proposes using their small business grant budget to support backup power sources for small businesses. This could include permanently installed backup power systems, including commercial-grade generators, battery storage systems, and associated electrical upgrades. These grants will cover 50% of allowed cost, up to $5000. The application is not yet online, but will go on this website.
