Topic: A Concise History of Beer
Speaker: Charlie Gottenkieny
Brewery: Bruz Beers
Tonight's talk will concisely cover the history and evolution of beer—from its beginnings in ancient Mesopotamia to today’s global beer markets. It will be a fast-moving presentation covering the 15,000-year journey of the world’s most popular alcoholic beverage.
Beer has been used in religious ceremonies, as a source of nutrition, as a means of fighting disease, as currency and as a social drink. It has influenced many civilizations in profound ways. Attendees at the talk will have the rare opportunity to taste an ancient Sumerian beer Charlie brewed from a 6,000-year-old recipe found on clay tablets.
An evening hosted by Golden Beer Talks centers around a brief, informative and entertaining presentation by an expert on an irresistibly enticing topic. Each event features beer for sale from one of our local breweries, along with a variety of delicious food and drink offerings from the Buffalo Rose kitchen and bar.
It's Golden's own grassroots version of TED talks for the benefit of our own local community--and just for the fun of it. Golden Beer Talks is a nonprofit venture focused on three favorite local things--Golden and Beer and Talking!
