6PM Arts & Culture Commission Meeting @ City Hall Council Chambers

The board will approve the minutes from the February meeting and listen to public comment. Tonight's topics include the following:

The Deputy Director of Colorado Business Committee for the Arts will present an Economic Activity Study of Metro Denver Culture

Staff will report on several things, including

  • Two art installations planned for the new City Hall ($200K each).
  • Strategic planning process for the Golden History Museum.
  • New exhibit at the History Museum.
  • Two new art pieces to be paid for by the State in celebration of the State's sesquicentennial (1876-2026) - the artists have already been chosen.
  • Staff is talking to the Downtown Development Authority about including art in their projects.
  • Staff will present the art plans for the new City Hall (budget approximately $470K) to the Capital Projects Committee.
  • Staff met with Economists from CU Boulder about economic impact of the arts. A study will begin this year.
