Transportation Demand Management
MTAB will review the Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan, prior to forwarding it to City Council. TDM plans use a variety of "sticks and carrots" to discourage the use of single occupancy vehicles. This can include reducing available parking or making it more expensive, educating people about public transit options, building more bike lanes and wider sidewalks, and installing more bike racks downtown.

Staff developed this plan by working with two downtown property owners/developers, a downtown business manager and a South Golden Road business owner/manager. They also invited the public to respond to a survey which elicited the following feedback:

People live too far from work to use alternatives to cars
o Distance, topography
Non-car options are unsafe, uncomfortable, inconvenient or simply not practical
o Aggressive drivers
Parking shortages are the biggest challenge in Golden, particularly for customers
Residents would like safer bike lanes
Walking is very popular, City should find ways to make it easier for people to make this choice
Not enough bike storage/racks in Golden
Ore Cart is not efficient as it does not reach the more rural parts of the City
(unclear if this is referring to areas within or outside City limits)
People desire e-bikes to help with topographic and weather challenges

The Plan appears on pp. 9-53 of the meeting packet. City Council will approve the plan at their May 12th meeting.

Water Jackson Street Parking Discussion
This topic came before City Council last week. The tenants in the Gold Apartments and the Gold Office Building are requesting permit parking. Council asked that the topic be remanded to MTAB for discussion. More info on pp. 54-106 of the meeting packet.

Bike Walk Golden map initiative
Members of the Bike Walk Golden group will describe a proposed project.

Golden Roadway Safety Discussion
Golden has recently seen people being injured on City Streets. MTAB will discuss possible improvements for particularly dangerous spots.
