- Attend the meeting @ City Hall Council Chambers - 911 10th Street - (map)
CBAC will hold their first meeting for the year. From now until the new budget is approved in December, this group will study the City’s budget in detail and make recommendations as necessary.
They will hear from Matthew Poston, the new Finance Director. Stephanie Novello, who led the Finance Department after Jeff Hanson's retirement and before Mr. Poston was hired, has left the City.
They will review our sales and use tax revenues (as they do every month).
They will hear from the Thriving Communities Department (which provides grants to social services and cultural organizations).
They will listen to a report about the Heart of Golden (new City Hall and redesigning the creek area)
They will discuss a list of city projects that could be affected by a sudden loss of Federal Funding, including the following: (see p. 38 of the meeting packet):
- Hwy 93
- Bachman/South Neighborhood
- Mines Master Plan
- Colfax Complete Street
- US6 & Heritage Early out
- North Ford Complete Street
- P2P Downtown Golden Alt Analysis and Concept Design
- Golden Transit Project
- Sustainability Projects
- SAFER (funding firefighters)
They will spend 20 minutes discussing Community Conversations (not sure what this is).

Please consider joining CBAC this year. Unlike the other boards & commissions, you don't need City Council's permission to join this one--you just show up. You can join the conversation immediately, and after five meetings you become a full voting member.
Word on the street is that at least two and possibly as many as four City Council positions will be open in this fall's elections. CBAC is a good way to get up to speed on City operations.
If you can't make it this month, plan to go to the next meeting, on April 16th. The full schedule for the year is included on p. 40 of the meeting packet.
