The Special Events Review Committee will evaluate recent special events (4th of July, Saturday Farmer’s Market, Midweek Farmer’s Market, July Movies & Music in the Park) and discuss upcoming events:

Grant Request by "Dream Tank." This new program is led by former City Councilor JJ Trout and current Mayor Laura Weinberg, along with a "Golden Community Council" that includes member of the City's REDI (Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Task Force. The program's goal is to enlist the City's youth (ages 8-18, plus School of Mines Students) to solve civic programs such as food insecurity, mental health, and public policy. The $3000 would pay for two consultants to facilitate the introductory session. For more information, see pp. 3-11 of the meeting packet.
They will review their mission statement and discuss a proposed revision to the grant program. The meeting packet does not describe the proposed change, but other city grant programs are changing so that city staff, rather than citizen committees, make the funding decisions.
