The Museum’s goal is to showcase not only Colorado’s rich railroad history, but also the many creative people—around the world—who keep the spirit of railroading alive and well in the 21st century.

NORTHEAST GALLERY
Thorns & Spikes | The 4 Common Corners

(through July 20, 2024)
It is amazing to see what comes from a creative group of people challenging each other to create original quilts for a theme. They take 4 months to develop and create their work for each theme. This exhibit is the result of the THEME challenge "Thorns and Spikes" for a group who all live in the Common 4 Corner states, and the only rule is that their work represents these states.

Peaks to Plains Trail Public Meeting

When: 5:30-7:30PM
Where: City Hall Council Chambers, 911 10th Street, Golden, CO

The Clear Creek Trail through Downtown Golden has become increasingly popular in recent years. The regional P2P Trail connecting Idaho Springs to Denver will be a major part of this popularity, especially with Jefferson County Open Space securing funding for the remaining unbuilt trail. This popularity also brings challenges to the existing Clear Creek Trail which is struggling to accommodate tubers, cyclists, pedestrians, residents, and visitors at peak times. This project will conduct an alternatives analysis and engage with the Golden community to determine the best route for a 'secondary route' of the P2P Trail through Downtown Golden.

The City is hosting the first public meeting on this project tonight to listen to the community to help develop the alternatives. Learn more about the project and upcoming public engagement opportunities on the Guiding Golden page.

The Principles of Artistic Expression

The Principles of Artistic Expression

When: 5:30-8PM
Where: Foothills Art Center, 809 15th Street, Golden, CO

Meeting on Monday nights, “The Principles of Artistic Expression” includes all those beginning to paint, returning to your art after a period of time, intending to strengthen your skills, or refining a style uniquely your own. As we explore the potential for self-expression in our visual language, each session we work on practical applications, with demonstrations, of essential means of artistic expression: composition, edges, shapes, values, color, light, and subject matter. We always set aside time for sensible, encouraging feedback on participants’ artwork. All mediums are welcome, including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, fabric, and paper-based arts.
