Evolutions CFE

(through July 20, 2024)
The Evolutions CFE show never disappoints with the variety of entries. The jurors have made their choices of the quilts that will be in the exhibit, and we think you will be surprised and delighted with the quilts.

Thorns & Spikes | The 4 Common Corners

(through July 20, 2024)
It is amazing to see what comes from a creative group of people challenging each other to create original quilts for a theme. They take 4 months to develop and create their work for each theme. This exhibit is the result of the THEME challenge "Thorns and Spikes" for a group who all live in the Common 4 Corner states, and the only rule is that their work represents these states.

LGBTQ Stories from the American Frontier

When: 6-7:30PM
Where: Golden History Museum, 923 10th Street, Golden, CO

This talk will cover topics, methods, and views of LGBTQ people in American history from the Revolutionary period to the Civil War.  Along the frontier from the Rio Grande to the Rocky Mountain region, frontiers offered a space which was both highly homosocial and a space for reinvention. Laws, politics, and moral values around gender and sexuality radically shifted by the end of the 19th century. Public views of LGBTQ people became harsher by the end of the 19th and hegemonically oppressive by the middle of the 20th. Yet resistance to such oppression flourished in the arts and private social spaces which fostered the contemporary LGBTQ rights movement.
