Clear Creek Room:  The Heart of Golden
Surrounded by North and South Table Mountains, Clear Creek has drawn people to this area for millennia. 

Discovery Awaits:  Indigenous Connections, Epic Events, Glimpses of Golden, Legendary People, and the Touch Gallery. 

Golden History Park (11th & Arapahoe):  The outdoor setting re-creates the look and feel of a late 1800's mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included).

The main floor exhibits feature specimens from many Colorado mining districts, other global localities and an introductory video on area geology. The Special Exhibit Room hosts prominent precious metal and invited displays. The main gallery also showcases historic mining murals by Irwin Hoffman.

The basement contains numerous exhibits regarding radioactivity, fossils, basic geology, gemstones, meteorites, ultraviolet minerals and underground mining illumination. The outdoor geologic trail features seven outcrops with various geologic and paleontological points of interest, including fossilized dinosaur tracks, logs and leaves.

Medallion Quilts by Cindy Vermillion Hamilton

Cindy is a self-taught folk artist bringing new life to traditional quilt design using unique arrangements of color and pattern. Her specialties are hand-pieced and hand-quilted medallion, sunflower and sunburst designs.

NORTHEAST GALLERY 
It’s All About…the Face, the Place, the Story by Phyllis Cullen

A retrospective collection of quilts by an artist with her own diverse set of voices, of portraits, animals, landscapes, messages and stories.

Maintenance at the Community Center

Where: Golden Community Center, 1470 10th Street, Golden, CO

Maintenance at the GCC

The Golden Community Center will be undergoing maintenance in June. 

North and South Table Group Exercise Rooms, the Basketball Gymnasium, and Facility Rental Rooms will undergo flooring maintenance from June 9th - June 14.

All classes and programs scheduled in those areas will be canceled. 

The rest of the facility will remain open.

Programs and classes will resume on June 15th.

DeLong Park Habitat Helpers

Golden Parks and Recreation is using DeLong Park as a pilot project for the City’s first organic park location. This means that they will be using only natural, organic products for all plants and grasses. No synthetic chemicals will be used in our maintenance practices.

The DeLong Park Weed Busters are always happy to bring in new members, and training on weed identification is provided!

Electric Trash Truck Demo Event

Where: Foothills Art Center - Astor House, 1133 Arapahoe Street, Golden, CO

Join the City of Golden for a demonstration of a super cool, super quiet, all-electric trash truck that could help serve downtown Golden.

Are you interested in a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient way to collect trash and recycling downtown? The City is exploring a special waste collection program for downtown businesses, commercial properties, and residents. The program could support better use of alleys, more access to recycling, more predictable pickup times, and reduced noise, congestion, and emissions downtown.

  • Schedule:

    10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
    The electric truck will be parked just outside the Astor House for everyone to see it up close and ask questions.

    11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
    Downtown tour to see the truck in action.
