Beneath the dance floor at the Buffalo Rose is an old swimming pool, built in 1927. Though water was a valuable commodity (particularly in August), the Plunge attracted so many visitors to Golden that the City willingly provided the water to fill it. The pool's owners made much of the fact that the pool used drinking-quality water.

Though popular, the Plunge was expensive to operate, and the original owner went bankrupt. The August 16, 1934 Colorado Transcript celebrated the pool's re-opening under new owners.
Golden’s Beautiful New Plunge Opens
Filled to the brim with Golden's pure mountain spring water, fresh and sparkling, crystalline clear, Golden's beautiful new plunge opened Tuesday and was quickly filled with happy young people intent on having a good time.
This attractive swimming pool, which the owners have spared neither time nor expense to make one of the most attractive in the west, has been refinished throughout in white and green. New, many colored, bathing suits of the latest models, new towels and new equipment throughout have been provided.
A delightful lounge room, finished in white and blue, with bright new canvas chairs and rugs is an entirely new feature.
All attendants and life guards are courteous and intent upon seeing that all wants of all patrons are instantly provided and that even the smallest children at all times are safe.
Many of the large deportment stores in Denver have signified their intention of purchasing tickets to distribute among their employees.
The Tramway will feature the Golden Plunge as a special Sunday attraction for their excursions. Last Sunday’s excursion brought considerably more than 400 persons to this city, with a prospect that this number will be doubled during the remainder of the season.
