The Early Gem

Former Christian Church (early home of the Golden Gem movie theater) - located at he 10th & Jackson - Golden History Museum Collectio
Golden History Moment

The Golden Gem Theater, which operated in Golden for more than 60 years, got its start in 1908, in the former Christian Church. The church was located at 10th and Jackson Streets. It appears in maps and photos up through the early 1920s, but was demolished when the “new high school” (now the American Mountaineering Center) was built.

Many thanks to Esther Kettering for sponsoring Golden History Moments for the month of August.
