Jefferson County is considering moving the fairgrounds to Fehringer Ranch, which is land south and east of Morrison.

  • Exhibit Hall: 10,440 sq. ft. flexible indoor space suitable for trade shows, banquets, and gatherings up to 900 guests.
  • Green Mountain Conference Rooms: Multi-sized meeting rooms (Rooms A, B, C, D) holding from 12 to 50 people per room.
    • Barns & Indoor Stalls: Facilities for agricultural, youth, and equine events, serving as a regional hub for livestock and animal hosting.

Outdoor & Equine Arenas

  • Rodeo Arena: Outdoor arena used for rodeos, larger public gatherings, and equine shows.
  • Table View Arena: A 21,500 sq. ft. (215' x 100') outdoor arena for horsemanship clinics, warm-ups, and open riding.

  • CSU Extension Office: On-site office providing local agricultural, horticultural, and community educational programs.

The County has been running a series of open houses to gather public feedback and answer questions. The last one is tomorrow night

Jefferson County Parks and Open Space is conducting an evaluation to determine where the county should invest its resources to support community gathering and provide opportunities for equine, youth and agricultural activities. Potential investment locations include the Jefferson County Fairgrounds and Fehringer Ranch (another county property).

A series of open houses are planned to share information, gather community feedback and provide a space for questions.

For questions please contact Katherine Woodhouse, Parks & Open Space Planner at kwoodhou@jeffco.us or 303.271.5925

The Golden Word - 10/26/26

Golden History: A Fond Farewell to the Briarwood

Auction of Briarwood equipment and furnishings – October 26, 2018

the Briarwood Inn held an online auction to dispose of their kitchen and serving equipment in preparation for demolishing the building. Winning bidders were allowed to visit the building and collect their purchases, and as I picked up my flat screen TV (but forgot to collect the remote), I took a few photos.

The Briarwood Inn was a fine dining restaurant that operated at the end of 8th Street from 1979 until 2018. They were very expensive and very good!

They were particularly popular during winter holidays, as their decorating was heavy and quite pretty. In their later years, they brought in Dickens Carolers to perform during their weekend brunches.

The restaurant closed in 2018 and was subsequently demolished to make way for new apartments and The Eddy Hotel.
