The November 6, 1946 Colorado Transcript reported that Golden was digging out from a 28-inch snowfall.
All schools were closed for two days at the beginning of the week. Cars were stranded in place all over town and traffic was at a standstill for several days. City workers had plowed downtown and were beginning to work on the side streets.
The School of Mines had looked forward to their first Homecoming since before World War II. The game was canceled, due to the blizzard, but the dance was held for those willing to brave the elements.
The storm left livestock stranded in the mountains, and planes were used to drop hay for horses and cattle.
There was a general election on Tuesday. The County Clerk reported that ballots were delivered to all precincts, though some had to be delivered by horseback.
The Jefferson County Republican, reporting on the same storm, wrote that many turkeys that were being raised for Thanksgiving had been lost. They added that the storm was good for the water table.
