Golden History: A Briarwood Moment

Auction of Briarwood equipment and furnishings – October 26, 2018

The Briarwood Inn held an online auction to dispose of their kitchen and serving equipment in preparation for demolishing the building. Winning bidders were allowed to visit the building and collect their purchases, and as I picked up my flat screen TV (but forgot to collect the remote), I took a few photos.

The Briarwood Inn was a fine dining restaurant that operated at the end of 8th Street from 1979 until 2018. They were very expensive and very good!

They were particularly popular during winter holidays, as their decorating was heavy and quite pretty. In their later years, they brought in Dickens Carolers to perform during their weekend brunches.

The restaurant closed in 2018 and was subsequently demolished to make way for new apartments and The Eddy Hotel.
Many thanks to an anonymous donor for sponsoring Golden History Moments for the month of October.
