8AM-1PM Golden Farmers Market

The Golden Farmers Market is produced and managed by the Golden Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization in Golden, Colorado. A long-standing tradition in the Golden community, we strive to contribute to the success of local food growers and producers, as well as other businesses, and create vibrant community gatherings. The revenue generated from vendor sales commission helps to cover market operating expenses and directly benefits small businesses and the economic development of the Golden Community.
The market is located at the corner of 10th and Illinois Streets - map.
We appreciate your support of the Golden Farmers Market and Colorado agriculture!
PARKING
Parking is more challenging this year, and tickets are now $100. See the Farmers Market website to find out where you can park.
5-8:30PM Golden Super Cruise
Golden Super Cruise - Photo by Chris Davell
2024 is the the Golden Super Cruise’s 20th official anniversary season. There will no longer be entertainment, official vendors, an information line or email contact. The Cruise has always been yours and you know the drill. If you’ve been a participant or spectator, come out as usual. If you’re new to the Cruise, start at South Golden Road and jump in. It’s easy and the people are great. Support the City of Golden and Golden businesses because they’ve always been our gracious hosts.

Thank you very sincerely for the perfect job of picking up and packing out trash. Point of important courtesy: Drive straight through all roundabouts, but ESPECIALLY at South Golden Road and Ulysses at the top of the hill. Tell others and use it as a cooldown and space it out to come back around through the Quaker roundabout.

Golden History: Department Stores of the Seventies

Department Stores of Golden - Golden Transcript - September 7, 1970
51 years ago, Golden’s three department stores shared an advertisement in the Golden Transcript to promote their “Red Hot Buys.” These days, it’s hard to imagine one department store in Golden–let alone three.

Gambles was located at 1211 Washington (now Spirits in the Wind). They operated in Golden from 1942 to 1975

Eakers opened in 1952 in “the old Golden Plunge” (now the Buffalo Rose Events Center). They existed well into the 1980s.

Hested’s opened in 1957 as a “variety store” before rebranding themselves as a department store. That store building was demolished in 2006 and has now been replaced by Gateway Station. Hested’s closed in 1977.

There was one earlier store in this category–Ellis Department Store was located in 1212 Washington Avenue (now Marrygrams Boutique). They opened in 1901 and ran until 1960.
Many thanks to the Golden Rotary Club for sponsoring Golden History Moments for the month of September.
