Golden History: Still More Previous Uses of the CoorsTek Property

Excerpt from the 1882 Birdseye View showing houses on what later became CoorsTek property - click on the image to enlarge

In the past few days, Preston Driggers and I have described two previous occupants of the CoorsTek property--the North Side Garage and the Binder Warehouse. As the 1882 map shows, there were also a number of houses on that property.

1938 Sanborn Insurance Map with houses marked "D" (for "Dwelling)

Many houses also appear in the Sanborn Insurance maps, up through the final one, which came out in 1938.

Excerpt from a photo taken October 10, 1948 - Denver Public Library Collection

Tree-filled residential blocks are still evident in this 1948 photo. In the years that followed, the houses were purchased by Coors and became part of the ceramics plant or a parking lot for the employees.

This house 612 10th Street (map) is the sole reminder of the residential blocks. According to the Assessor's Office, it was built in 1865.
