August's Lunch and Learn topic is Fraud Prevention. Sergeant Justin Garcia from the Golden Police Department will be the speaker. The Lunch and Learn series is chance to grab a bite to eat and learn about many of the 50 plus communities’ ongoing questions about health, transportation, living situations, insurance, nutrition, end of life choices, and many other topics. - Golden Pantry and Thrift has requested $5000 for two new industrial freezers (pp 7, 8 of the meeting packet).
- Golden Hour Pilates requested $2142 to help pay for new exterior signage (pp. 9-11).
Hiring Consultants for Studies
- Staff is soliciting bids for consultants to do a Makerspace Feasibility Study. They received bids of $18,500 and $27,165 and recommend that the board accepts the lower bid (p. 12).
- Staff is working with Anderson Analytics on an Economic Contribution Study. They are asking the board to decide the scope of some additional work (pp.13-25).

Fast-forwarding 54 years, here’s a picture that Donald Tallman, the former Executive Director of the Railroad Museum, took as he was leaving Barrels and Bottles. He reported that the water was almost up to the door of his Subaru Forester. “It gave me an excuse to have another beer to wait for the water level to subside a bit before wading out to the car.”

Overnight: Mostly cloudy. Low around 62, with temperatures rising to around 66 overnight. West northwest wind around 5 mph.
Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms between 9am and 3pm, then showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny. High near 80, with temperatures falling to around 75 in the afternoon. North wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
