The Board will adjourn to a Study Session after Public Comment.
Representatives from the Clayworks project will be there to discuss construction status, occupancy plans, and their Transportation Demand Management (TDM). The TDM agreement with the city allows them to provide less parking than code would normally require, provided they encourage employees to carpool, ride bikes, or take buses to work.
People will begin occupying the first office building in September. The first retail tenant (a coffee shop) will open during the 4th quarter.

6-10PM Big Hooray in the Golden Community Garden @ Golden Community Garden
A community potluck and bluegrass fundraising jamboree, open to the public. 30 bluegrass musicians playing in various locations among the beautiful beds of the Golden Community Garden in late summer bloom. Aside from potluck dishes there will be professionally prepared fare donated from The Cast Iron Tavern and other local eateries. Also included will be beverages donated from our four local favorite breweries: New Terrain, GCB, CODA, and Crooked Stave. Our goal this year is to raise $5,000 for our local food bank: Golden Pantry and Thrift.

Golden History: Gin Marriages and Revenue

In 1931, Colorado joined several other states by enacting a law prohibiting "gin marriages." This was a slang term for a hasty marriage, often done under the influence of alcohol. The new law required a 5-day waiting period between the issuance of a marriage license and the wedding ceremony. It also required that licenses be issued only during regular office hours.
The August 27, 1931 Colorado Transcript commented that "This provision will save County Clerk M. C. Everitt many a midnight ride to his office, for in the past a large share of the licenses issued in Golden have been secured at night."
The following week's paper reported that there had been a sudden rush for marriage licenses before the new rule went into effect, with 14 issued at the Golden courthouse the previous Monday.
The law was repealed two years later. People who wanted to elope still did; they just went to other states to get married. As a result, Colorado counties were losing marriage license revenue.
