The Lunch and Learn series is chance to grab a bite to eat and learn about many of the 50 plus communities’ ongoing questions about health, transportation, living situations, insurance, nutrition, end of life choices, and many other topics. Members of the Golden-based Mount Lookout Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution with a bell ringing ceremony in front of the Golden Welcome Center.

Last Night's Golden Hour MashUp
Last Golden MashUp was fun. In addition to the stores and activities in the "main" downtown area, Several businesses were set up in the Welcome Center parking lot.
People were buzzing from store to store, customizing hats, petting horses, getting henna artwork, enjoying live music, and getting free bike repairs.
The Astor House had a constant crowd all evening. They were offering a clay craft, where people decorated a piece to be made into a bolo tie. Visitors had the option of adding a small bud vase. After making their piece, they took it to Adorne Artisan Jewelry to select the bolo tie and Middlemist Floral Company to choose little flowers to put in the bud vase!
One more of these MashUp events is scheduled, on October 14th. The theme for that one will be Ghouls' Night Out.

Golden History: Stratton Arrives

The September 17, 1903 Colorado Transcript celebrated the completion of Stratton Hall, the new metallurgy building on the School of Mines campus. “It is a grand addition to the already extensive plant of the school and will allow of a large addition to the student list.” The article mentioned that the school hoped to build a power house next, to be located west of the new metallurgy building. The power house appears in the postcard above.
The building was funded by a donation of $25,000 from the estate of W.S. Stratton–the Cripple Creek mining magnate. They were still working on a tunnel that would connect Stratton with the other campus buildings, to hold sewage and heating pipes and electrical wires. The new hall was wired with electricity sufficient to power 3,000 lights.
