Visit Golden has a new marketing agency. They plan to make some changes to the visitgolden.com website this year and completely rebuild it to use AI next year.
The team will continue efforts to make visitor information available in Spanish as well as English. They plan to hire bi-lingual employees "so Spanish speaking visitors and their families can navigate Golden with confidence."
They want to increase tourism in the off-seasons and attract more group sales. They plan to present Golden as a hub of outdoor sports industries.
They are developing a campaign to persuade residents of the value of tourism. They will present locals with stories about local businesses and visiting groups. They will encourage local businesses to offer locals-only perks.
They will develop video to build Golden's brand and will present AI-based itineraries tailored to the visitor.
They will discuss the new Golden After Hours program. This may be the same program presented to the DDA last week under the name "Golden Hour." This is a Wednesday evening event designed to attract Golden residents into local businesses.

The Deputy City Manager will report on efforts to control crowds, litter, etc., along Clear Creek.
Consent Matters
Items on the Consent Agenda are considered non-controversial, not needing discussion. Everything in this section will be approved at once, with one vote.
Any councilor wishing to discuss one of the issues can request that it be removed from the consent agenda and discussed and voted on separately.

- IGA with RTD to provide transit services to neighborhoods not currently served by RTD or the Ore Cart. The City will contribute $300,000. Learn more.

Golden History: Golden's Last Civil War Veteran

The July 28, 1932 Colorado Transcript announced the death of Golden's last Civil War veteran.
Andrew Anderson came to the U.S. from his native Sweden and joined the Union Army when hostilities commenced in 1861. He served in the Infantry for the duration of the war. After moving to Golden in 1869, he became active in Golden's T. H. Dodd post of the Grand Army of the Republic.
He was the foreman at the Golden paper mill on 9th Street for many years and lived in a home on the same street for half a century.
His funeral was conducted with military honors at Woods Mortuary, 11th and Washington. He was buried in the Golden Cemetery.
