10AM Arts & Culture Commission Meeting @ Golden City Hall

The Arts & Culture Commission will hold an open house & roundtable discussions on September 30th from 5-7PM. Tonight, they will discuss how they should gather feedback on the Arts & Culture Master Plan.

They will discuss their budget (not included in the meeting packet).

They will discuss how they should distribute Arts & Culture grants. The grants subcommittee is proposing a three-tier granting system. If that works similarly to the SCFD approach, it means that grants are distributed according to the size of the organization. The supporting information is not included in the meeting packet.

The September 2, 1948 Colorado Transcript reported that Mr. and Mrs. James Tierney were selling their jewelry store after more than 30 years on Washington Avenue. The new owner was Wendell Plummer of Elgin, Illinois. An experienced watch repair man, Mr. Plummer had worked at the Elgin Watch company the previous 13 years. He and his wife had two sons–Tommy, age 11, and Robbie, age 5, and twin two year old daughters.

The store became “Plummers Jewelry” and remained in the family for 52 years. Wendell Plummer owned the store from 1948-1969, when he sold it to his oldest son, Tom. Tom and his wife Donna owned the store until 2000, when they sold it to Roger Tapia.

Roger renamed the business “Creekside Jewelers” and ran it until his retirement in 2021. The current owner is Tina Deliote.
