Golden History: Our Long Tradition—Reborn!

In the summer of 1915, the Golden Band raised funds to build this bandstand, which was located at the intersection of 13th and Washington, near the Tramway depot. – enlarge
Brass band music was very popular with soldiers during the Civil War, and became an essential element of American life in the years following the war. Golden had its own local band as early as 1875, and for many decades brass band music was a vital part of any community gatherings—particularly popular at 4th of July celebrations.
In addition to the Golden Band, many local organizations had small groups of their own.

Reviving the Time-Honored Tradition

Make sure you stay till the end of tomorrow's Lions Club 4th of July Festival! The Golden Eagle Concert Band will be playing patriotic tunes – a half hour program of music, beginning at around 6:45.
