CBAC will review the sales and use tax report for March. Local sales were down 4.3%; however this was more than offset for "outside sales" (which includes purchases from out-of-state vendors like Amazon). Outside sales grew 18.11%. In past years, the City conducted varous "Buy Local" campaigns, to encourage people to make their purchases from local vendors and keep their money in the City. With the phenominal growth and utility of online vendors, supporting local merchants no longer seems as vital.
Lodging tax increased 13.7% compared to the same month last year; however, overall lodging tax is down 1.35 compared to last year, year-to-date.
Marijuana sales have not been in place for a full year, so it's impossible to do a year-over-year comparison. Marijuana tax revenue continues to grow, and the City is expecting to receive about $380K in MJ Revenue this year.
The City's Principal Planner will appear before the group to provide an update on Parking Revenue expenses and revenues. The City began outsourcing the writing of parking tickets about a year. The City splits the parking ticket revenue with the comapny that writes the tickets. The City expects to net about $600K on parking tickets this year.
At last report, they City planned to remove 51 parking places from Jackson Street, which may increase parking ticket revenue even more.
Several private parking lot owners have begun charging to park in their lots.
The group will also hear the City's plans for managing the crowds along Clear Creek this summer.
