Nuclear's Promise for Colorado: Hype or Hope? (hybrid)

When: 7-9PM
Where: Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W. 32nd Avenue, Golden, CO

The current push for nuclear power has led to the passing of House Bill 25-1040, defining nuclear energy as "clean energy", making it eligible for clean energy project financing. In consequence this allows nuclear to syphon off funding intended for renewables.

While future small nuclear reactors (which are considered for Colorado if and when they materialize) have received much attention in the media and by politicians there has been little due diligence: Nuclear carries a number of serious drawbacks that can’t be wished away, and need to be weighed carefully against the positives on a local basis.

Hear about the technical arguments from Chuck Kutscher, (NREL, CU Boulder) and from Ean Tafoya, State Director for GreenLatinos covering the politics.

Please plan to stay for a reception with food, drinks, and conversations afterwards.
