I took this photo 3 years ago this week, when Foothills Art Center broke ground for their addition to the Astor House. What a difference three years make!

Golden Beer Talks celebrated the latest incarnation of the Astor House last week. We heard from a pair of archaeologists, who related the history of the building and described the archaeological dig they conducted in the yard. Marcie Miller told us about the Herculean efforts by Golden Landmarks Association, which prevented the building being razed for parking in the early 1970s.

Maura Adamson, Foothills' Executive Director, described the happy present and brilliant future for Foothills Art Center at the Astor House.

Golden City Brewery, a long-time supporter of Foothills Art Center (and Golden Beer Talks) was kind enough to donate the beer for the event. My daughter Margaret and her Clydesdales were in town that day for a Horses & History wagon ride, so she picked up the beer at the brewery and delivered it to the Astor House.
