The July 16, 1959 Colorado Transcript reported that a new subdivision—called Beverly Heights—had been approved by the Planning Commission. Beverly Heights would be 55 acres and would include 122 large lots. "Restrictive covenants will require homes in the twenty-five thousand dollar and up class."

The property seller would not be building the homes. "Lots will be available to any builder or private person desiring to purchase them. All construction will be subject to the approval of an architectural committee.... It is anticipated that this subdivision will add between three and four million dollars worth of housing to the City of Golden and will add in excess of one million dollars to the assessed value of Golden."
