Apologies for sending the earlier, buggy version of this puzzle. I was trying to test it and instead sent it to 1800+ readers. Sorry about that!
While you're waiting for election results, here's a jigsaw puzzle of a Golden scene.
Let me know if you like this. If it's popular, I'll run more in the future.
(If you're reading this in email, click here to see the puzzle on the website.)
11:30AM-1PM Golden Comp Plan Community Engagement @ Bonfire Burritos

Bonfire Burritos - Google Street Images
A Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that guides long-term decisions for the City, covering land-use decisions like rezoning, infrastructure investments, and programming choices. It lays the foundation for future zoning codes, which then turn the plan into reality.
This meeting at Bonfire Burritos is an opportunity for public feedback.
Learn more about the Comprehensive Plan on the Guiding Golden page.

The Orion Spacecraft: Carrying Humans to the Moon and Beyond - presentation by Heather McKay
Ballroom A
Orion is NASA’s next generation spacecraft, uniquely designed to carry humans to explore deep space. No other spacecraft in development has the technology needed for the extremes of deep space, such as life support, navigation, communication, radiation shielding, and safety systems to protect astronauts and return them safely back home. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor, designing and building the Orion spacecraft as part of NASA’s Artemis program, to develop a sustainable presence on the lunar surface of the moon and prepare humans to explore Mars. Come learn about the technologies, testing, and mission plans for the Orion spacecraft, including Artemis III, which will carry the first woman and the next man to the surface of the moon later this decade.
The lecture is free and open to the general public.

We've taken city hall out of the back alley! We've given our youth a recreation center! The cornerstone for Golden's "Second Century of Progress" has been laid!
Colorado Transcript - November 5, 1959
The City of Golden celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1959. The City was experiencing the post-World War II rush to suburbia and growing at a tremendous clip. City offices were located behind the fire station on 12th Street. In the spring of that year, the Chamber of Commerce and City Council members decided that the best way to celebrate the centennial would be construction of a new municipal center. It would include a new fire station, police station, library, museum, offices for City employees, a recreation center, and a swimming pool.

The proponents spent the summer barnstorming all the local groups (Lions, Kiwanis, Garden Club, etc.) to persuade them of the need and ask them to vote in favor of a bond issue.
It worked!

Taxpayers of Golden voted 4-1/2 - 1 Tuesday to give this city its "Cornerstone for its Second Century of Progress." The proposed bond issue passed decisively with 937 ballots cast for the issue and 203 against. All of the 12 absentee ballots received were for the bond issue.
Thank you to Wendy Weiman for sponsoring Golden History Moments for the month of November.
