1-3PM Zoom Watercolor with Janet Nunn and Foothills ArtCenter

Zoom is a great way to take a class. You stay at your home with your supplies ready. If you miss a class, they are recorded so you can catch the class later. Each week we will paint a new painting. The lesson will be sent out to you a few days before, so you are ready for the class. We will be using some fun painting techniques, like a basting brush, wax paper, plastic wrap and a few more. Also, we will use the Dr. Ph. Martin’s Hydrus watercolors. In the class, you will learn how to use these techniques to create a great painting.

This class takes place on ZOOM on September 3, 10, & 17 from 1pm-3pm.

Golden History: Luckier Than Some

Headlines by Colorado Transcript – Background image by Chris Davell

Previously, I’ve written about a couple of people who died in falls from Castle Rock. In 1925, while the dance hall was still in operation, a young man had a disagreement with his friends. He walked off into the darkness and plunged to his death by stepping over the edge of the rock–apparently by accident. In 1943, a thug pushed two boys (ages 8 and 11) to their deaths–apparently out of pure meanness.

Today’s story comes from the September 3, 1908 Colorado Transcript. A visitor from Indiana had been exploring the area and spent the day climbing the hills around Golden. At 6:30 in the evening, he was standing on Castle Rock, peering over the precipice. He became light-headed and tumbled over the edge. This guy was luckier than those in the previous stories: “He suffered two broken ribs and severe gashes in his head.” But he walked away!

Many thanks to the Golden Rotary Club for sponsoring Golden History Moments for the month of September.
