A Beautiful Day and a Full Moon, Foxes, Gingerbread, and a Cool Old Photo

If the forecast holds true, this should be a picture-perfect Colorado day, with white snow on the ground and a clear blue sky. The moon will be full tonight, so I hope the cloudlessness lasts long enough to see that. We’re expecting snow again tomorrow. The moon will rise at 4:54PM this afternoon and set at 7:32AM tomorrow morning. This full moon report is brought to you by Buglet Solar.

Historic Moment:

This photo was taken in 1949. The arch was new that year. Meyer Hardware appears on the far right. The building that now houses Baby Doe’s Clothing was under construction. The west side of the 1200 block had three drugstores! Jack’s Pharmacy was on the north corner (now Goozell Yogurt). Alpine Drug was in the middle of the block (now Del’s Tonsorial). Foss Drug was on the south end of the block (now Peak Cycle). Click to enlarge.

Sunday Preview:

If you’ve ever been curious to see more of this cool building on Easley Road at 50th, Sunday is your lucky day. The Golden Elks (who own it) are having an Open House tomorrow from 2-4PM. It’s a good chance to meet Elks Club members too–a very nice bunch of people. Learn more….
