6:30PM Planning Commission Study Session @ City Hall
Now that City Council has lifted the moratorium on new residential construction, we’re seeing the backlog of projects coming through. Under the new Zoning Code, the Planning Commission will be reviewing far fewer cases. The Planning Director can approve new developments without Commission involvement, if he thinks they comply with code.

Tonight’s meeting packet includes four projects in the consent agenda. These projects have already been approved by the director and will not be discussed unless a Commission member requests a discussion.

The home shown above will be replaced with 2 duplexes (4 homes) with detached garages. The new duplexes will be addressed as 402 N. Ford and 404 N. Ford.

A. 402 N. Ford Street– Ratification of the Director’s Determination of approval for a Form Zone Site Development Plan for a Village Duplex in the Transition Form Zone.
B. 404 N. Ford Street– Ratification of the Director’s Determination of approval for a Form Zone Site Development Plan for a Village Duplex in the Transition Form Zone.

The home at 1112 Miller P.lace will get an addition in the back

C. 1112 Miller Place– Ratification of the Director’s Determination of approval for a Form Zone Site Development Plan for a Side Drive House in the Transition Form Zone.

The house at 23 Washington Ave. will be demolished and replaced with the home shown above.

D. 23 Washington Avenue– Ratification of the Director’s Determination of approval for a Form Zone Site Development Plan for a Village House in the Transition Form Zone.

113 Ford Street will get two additions in the front, including a new garage, which will extend into the front yard.

The Commission will review two additions planned for 113 Ford Street, because the garage extends into the front yard more than the new zoning code allows.

The July 20, 1961 Colorado Transcript announced that County Commissioner Joe B. Lewis had purchased the old county courthouse, Sheriff’s residence, and jail. The price was not disclosed in the article.

The Sheriff’s residence and jail, located next to the courthouse, was built in 1914 – enlarge

Lewis said he is not certain at this time what will be done with the courthouse and adjoining house, used as a jail and sheriff’s quarters before the new jail was completed three years ago. Lewis said he may convert the buildings into apartments if remodeling is not too costly.

Two years later, Lewis had the buildings demolished. The property was later occupied by a fast food place and a liquor store and is now the site of an office building.
