Beer, Book Group, Golden Overlook, and Trails

The Local Licensing Authority will meet today at 2:30 in City Council Chambers. Both Golden Loaf ‘N Jugs–one at 102 N. Rubey Drive and the other at 700 Warner Drive–have applied to modify their premises to substantially increase their beer offerings.  Safeway made a similar request last month.  I assume this is because the rules will change on January 1st, and grocery and convenience stores will be able to sell “full-strength” beer.  See the meeting packet to learn more….

The Library will hold their Tuesday night book group tonight from 6-7PM.  Tonight’s book is Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

There will be a neighborhood meeting regarding the Golden Overlook Subdivision at the Jeffco Fairgrounds from 6-7PM. They will hear about a potential application from the property owner of the Golden Overlook Subdivision, seeking approval to rezone the property from single family residential use to lower impact commercial uses. The Parks, Recreation & Museums Advisory Board will meet at 7PM this evening at the Golden Community Center. The City is interested in creating a walkway on the north side of Clear Creek, between Parfet Park and Ford Street. The new Golden Mill owners favor this plan. The City would also need an easement from the new owner of the Gold Apartment building. Steve Glueck, Director of Community & Economic Development, will attend tonight’s meeting to see what the Parks Board thinks of this idea. The Board will also discuss the Lubahn Trail, which starts at Belvedere Drive and 19th Street.  The trail needs maintenance, and the City may work with Jeffco Open Space to repair it.  See the meeting packet to learn more….
