This year’s festival starts at 11 a.m. today. They are selling limited edition printed glassware full of beer, and all proceeds will go directly to Golden Fire-Rescue. Department personnel will be on site, and the fire engines will stop by when not needed elsewhere. Pictured above (center frame) are GCB owner Janine Sturdavant and event coordinator Kris Nagy.

Golden History Moment
The September 10, 1964 Colorado Transcript reported that the county was short on courtrooms, and that judges were “Playing Musical Chairs for Courtrooms.” Construction was just beginning on a new $1.5 building for the courts.
The Hall of Justice opened in 1966 and was demolished in 1993. The School of Mines has been using that land as a parking lot for the past 19 years, but they have big plans to develop it–in fact construction has already begun.
Thanks to the Golden History Museum for providing the online cache of historic Transcripts, and to the Golden Transcript for documenting our history since 1866!
