Dogs, Pumpkins, Solar Homes, and Irish Music

Foothill Animal Shelter is celebrating DOGtoberfest this month.  Adoption fees for all small dogs, over the age of 6 months, will be ONLY $50!  The regular adoption process applies and all adoptions still include spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip and health check. More information at www.FoothillsAnimalShelter.org.  The Shelter is open today and tomorrow from 10-6 and weekdays from 11-7.

The last Farmers Market of the year is this morning from 8-1.  The last Golden Super Cruise of the year is this afternoon & evening.  This official start time is 5, but the cars will start arriving on South Golden Road much earlier!

The 3rd Annual Golden Tour of Solar Homes is today from 9-4.  The fee is $5/adult and the tour is self-guided.  Start the day at the Mountaineering Center (710 10th Street) and get the tour map.  Visit each “green” home and talk with the home owners and volunteers about the green features of each home.

Yesterday, I erroneously reported that the Golden Solar Tour Reception and Green Expo was Friday night, but I was wrong, wrong, wrong…it’s tonight, from 4-8PM.
It’s free, and it’s open to the public.  The Green Expo will include Renewable Energy & Sustainable Living Exhibits, Workshops and an Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Round-Up. A Silent Auction will be held, and you will have an opportunity to talk with solar leaders in the community about some of Golden’s Solar initiatives.

Appetizers and local beverages will be served.  Please visit GoldenSolarTour.org or Facebook.com/GoldenSolarTour for more details. For more information e-mail Sheila Townsend at sheilatownsend@q.com or call 303-279-1446.

West Side Live! presents Colcannon tonight at the Jefferson Unitarian Church.  Traditional with a touch of chamber music and music hall, Colcannon plays Irish music with panache, warmth and wit. Timeless songs and great musicianship transport the audience to another time and place.  The concert begins at 7.  Visit westsidelivepresents.org for more information.
